I started working online in the summer of 2019. There was some question with whether the school district, at which I was working, was going to stay open because of low enrollments, small community size, etc.
The opportunity to start working from home, and still be teaching history was a pretty appealing so I took the job!
Fast forward to two weeks, and my wife tells me I needed to start interacting with others because I was, and I quote, '... driving me nuts with how much talking you need to do when I get home, and I'm not a fan of the clinginess!' She loves me! <3 : )
I was meeting her at the door, asking her how things went at school, if she needed me to run to the store, or run any errands... I just needed social interaction!
I am a social guy! I will talk to anyone about pretty much anything (just ask the Morman gents who ended up being on my Christmas candy list, and then left some holiday treats of their own at my door), so it would make sense that I do something, socially, that would get me interacting with others! BUT WHAT? What could do that for me? I really needed to think about it.
Of all the things I could have chosen to do, at that point in history, I choose...

I know this, at this point does NOT even seem like it is something that comes close to where I am now, but trust me... it does!
500 Section Sports was just a simple sports talk. Me... talking... about sports. I loved it, of course... because I love to talk, but I just didn't think I would be very successful if I alone talked about sports topics that I chose on my own. That's when I moved the trajectory of the 500 Section, and added some co-hosts!

As the 500 Section continued to grow into what it has become today, other opportunities presented themselves, and other things started to take off!
Dalton Shetler is a friend of mine! He is MUCH younger than I am. He's closer to the age of my oldest son than he is MY age, but my elderly state is NOT what we're talking about here! He's so much younger than I am, that he was on one of my senior league (13-15 years old) baseball teams! Another dig at myself!
Anyways... he has been a guest in the Lounge multiple times, and there was a minute that I threw the idea at him about doing a college sports podcast with him, and he said that he, at that point, didn't really have the time to do that. I assumed it was him just being nice!
A couple months after my suggestion, Dalton called, and we had a project to work getting off the ground!
Our Big Ten-themed show started in January of 2022, and just celebrated 100 episodes!

The Birth of a New Media Group!
After assisting in developing a podcast/media network, and being a board member, I decided it was time to move into a different direction.
We moved from NE Indiana to NW Ohio in September of 2021.
The stresses of acclimating to a new place after living parts of six different decades in one county, moving houses (had only really done that once before, and with a TON less stuff), and leaving all I knew... I needed something.
I needed something to give me a sense of helping the community while still playing off my strengths.
I had the 500 Section Lounge, and that feeling of hanging out, relaxing, and having a good time, all while producing great content... so why not extend that out to other things?!
In May of 2023, Lounge Media Group was born!

- Broadcast Services: People tell me that I have a good voice, so voiceover (V/O) and broadcasting services (commercial production & event broadcasting) were going to be a service we offer!
- Podcast Services: Through the years I've done podcasting, I have completely produced almost every episode I have been a part (minus guest appearances on other shows). So podcast production, from start to finish, was a service we offer!
- Graphic Design: I have always liked to design different things! I used to design basketball uniforms, for fun, and now with various shows I am a part, but then also other designs for other podcasts! So I decided to offer designs!
In May of 2023, Lounge Media Group was born!
